THINGS TO DO

Carriganass Castle
Carriganass Castle was built in c.1540 by Dermot O'Sullivan, a member of the O'Sullivan Beare sept (or clan), who wielded considerable power in West Cork during the 16th century and early 17th century. The castle passed through the hands of various members of the O'Sullivan clan during a period of internal feuding lasting until 1601.
Megalithic Stone Circle
Kealkill’s magnificent stone circle is one of the most striking examples of megalithic architecture in Ireland. The structure is made up of a circle of five axial stones, with a further two stones nearby, the tallest of which is over four metres high.
The elevated position of the stone circle on a mountain ridge gives extensive views across Bantry Bay to the west. You will look out over miles of hills and valleys in every other direction except south, where the mountain rises above the circle.
Gougane Barra Walk
An area of wild and beautiful scenery, this magnificent Forest Park covers over 137 splendid hectares (339 acres). It is tucked in a lush valley at the edge of the Sheehy mountains, the ideal place to hike, get in touch with nature, picnic and inhale the fresh air. Think Canadian Rockies with its sharp crags, high pine forests and panoramic views sweeping down the lake.
JC Collins Irish Pub
Enjoy a pint or drink at JC Collins Traditional Irish Pub. Located just across the road from Cupid's Cottage, you can enjoy a night of traditional Irish music and fun.
Garnish Island Visit
Located in the sheltered harbour of Glengarriff in Bantry Bay, Co. Cork, Garinish is a small island known to horticulturists and lovers of trees and shrubs all around the world as an island garden of rare beauty.
Romantic Evening In Bantry
Bantry is a beautiful and modern harbour town in West Cork, one of the most picturesque parts of Ireland. It is located along the renowned Wild Atlantic Way touring route and is the perfect base from which to explore these stunning lands. The people here embrace visitors as one of their own, so don’t be surprised if locals strike up a conversation or wave hello to you as you drive past.
